LEIGH MOOSE

North Carolina native Leigh Moose now resides just outside her hometown of Wake Forest. Encourage by her parents to explore and experience the world around her; Leigh seized the opportunity to live in cities across the country. Experiencing both small town living and large metropolitan areas, Leigh found herself inspired by the diversity of the architecture, color, nature, history and people these areas had to offer. This exposure nurtured an appreciation for a variety of art mediums.

Leigh has worked with several major local musicians and her photography has graced the cover of three CD’s. Leigh has also enjoyed artistic photography work with fellow textile artists, making sure that those artists’ pieces also have a voice through her photography. Some of Leigh’s artwork has displayed at Raleigh’s VAE, The Anne Marie Sculptural Gardens Gallery: About Faces exhibit, Appalachian State University’s Turchin Center: The Halpert Biennial Exhibition and The Lede Gallery of Wake Forest: Journeys Unknown exhibit. Although Leigh focuses most of her work on editorial portraiture, she always takes the time to encourage a more “out of the box” approach to classic photography. Leigh lives by the motto that, “Every photograph deserves a moment in time.”

Though not classically trained, Leigh found herself so captivated by what the world and fellow artists had to offer, that she developed her own natural talents and has chosen to narrate living and share her voice through photography.

The collection strives to share a glimpse into the mind of the artist and all that she has lived, pained and overcome. There is often darkness that one finds comfort in and at times that depth can become overwhelming and consuming. The images before you are representative of emotions that are not unique to the creator only shadows of what we all have in common. These pieces are a part of the healing voice, the painful memory, and scars of being trapped … Inside Somewhere.

Dense, imagistic lyricism unfolds over simple guitar melodies in a dreamy stream of consciousness.

Featuring a Live Acoustic Performance by Anna Rose Beck

A modern folk artist taking the genre into new territories while remaining firmly rooted in the past, Anna Rose Beck translates inner dialogues and daydreams into flowing melodies, resulting in songs that are enchanting, contemplative, and highly imaginative. Heavily influenced by Bob Dylan’s lyrical style, Anna Rose began writing songs when she was 22. Born in Austin, she attended Duke University in Durham, North Carolina where she was drawn into the rich traditions of the region's old-time folk music culture. Equipped with an acoustic guitar, Anna Rose taught herself how to play and eventually developed her own unusual finger-picking styles. In September of 2010 she collaborated with Asheville-based producer Andrew Schatzberg (landslidestudio.com) to record her first album The Weathermaker – a refined collection of the songs that marked the beginnings of her songwriting career. She is accompanied on the album by melodic arrangements of cello, piano and pedal steel guitar that reinforce the otherworldly, fairy tale-like ambiance many of her songs suggest.
